Dear parents/carers, Please find below some information, resources and guidance on a range of wellbeing topics: Triple P (Positive Parenting Programme) about positive parenting during COVID-19: online safety resources; and details of a free course from Family Lives. There is a lot of different information in varying formats that will not be suitable for everyone, but certain aspects may be useful to you and your family.
Resources from Triple P: • Parenting Teenagers During COVID-19 – the Triple P Parenting Guide – this is similar to the previous Parenting Guide, but tailored specifically to parents of pre-teens and teenagers. Read or download here • Teen Triple P Online now also includes a new COVID-19 module to assist with managing not only normal issues related to parenting adolescents but also the extra pressures of this current situation. Find out more about this programme here • New free digital magazine – Parenting in Uncertain Times – plenty of useful tips and strategies and able to be read on phones and tablets. Family Lives Parenting Programme – Details and information about a free course 👍 from Family lives
Re: Free Parenting Programme – https://www.familylives.org.uk/how-we-can-help/online-parenting-courses/parents-together/ The course is free to all parents and carers. The course has to be accessed using either Google Chrome or Internet Explorer – unfortunately it cannot be accessed on an I-Pad or mobile phone or by using Safari. The course consists of 6 interactive modules with examples, quizzes, pictures and audio. Each module takes about 30 minutes but you are able to work through the programme at your own pace. The modules cover: How parenting can be challenging Communication skills Looking after your own needs as a parent Promoting Positive Behaviour Play and what children need Setting boundaries The programme is ideally suited for people with children aged 0 – 5 but most of the topics can be related to older children and will benefit parents of children up to the age of 11. PTO is not an accredited qualification it is a self-learning course with the intention of sharing parenting information and guidance. As with any parenting course either face to face or on-line there is no pass or fail it is all about introducing ideas of how to do things differently. You can print off module certificates as you complete them, or you can email us for a completion certificate for all 6 modules at the end of the course.
